Employee satisfaction and financial performance

Due to the technology, globalization, the open economies,… a company can’t compete only on the value of innovation. There are new so called “soft stuff” that can make the difference in a company. One of them is people. The job satisfaction is very important according to different researches.

It is obvious that when employees are satisfied by their job they will sell more and more easily. If  they give a good service, people will come back and they will get a good reputation. This brings a higher customer satisfaction, and so they will buy more products or more expensive products, which makes them more profitable customers.

In order to be a company who has a high employee satisfaction some important questions should be asked, such as:
  • Does the management listen and respond? After all, the employees are those who are the closest to the customers.
  • Is there enough recognition and rewards? This leads to a higher motivation on the workplace.
  • Do the people understand that their jobs contribute to the greater good of the organization? They need to feel that everybody can and will make the difference.  It‘s like a big puzzle.
  • A lot of additional questions can be added.

  1. Where should we focus on exactly? You wish to explain the fact that companies are performing better when their employees are happy and the link between ethical behaviour? Or do we just pick one of both and focus on that one?
