Ethical Business Practices

The " Ethical Business and Sustainable Communities " Report shows us that most consumers prefer to buy goods or services from companies that act ethically. So ethical behavior is definitely an important way to increase popularity and consumer confidence.

Some rules are required by law, e.g. that a company must always maintain a long term policy in stead of short term risk management. If a company obeys these rules they will be considered healthy. But to improve the value of the business brand, companies can make an extra effort to improve their ethical policy and they will be rewarded with the favor of the consumers.

This article shows us what could be one of the reasons why ethical behavior leads to better financial performances. But referring to the last remark in Thomas' blog 'Being a “good citizen” in the world of business. Is it “healthy”?', I think we have to be careful. Is it because of the ethical behavior that companies grow financially. Or is it the other way around, and are the financially stronger companies simply capable to invest more in their ethical policy? Or aren't we supposed to make neither of the conclusions?
